This is my dog's last day.

She stopped eating, so a last meal seems out of the question. She loved cottage cheese (who knows why). Perhaps it was the lumps. Sure wasn't the flavor.

I didn't seek her out, but she attached to me like... like a dog who lost her best friend and needed a new one. I hope she thinks I was good enough.

Now we sit together on the porch, feeling the breeze one last time. For these next few hours everything will be right until it isn't.

My ex-wife has cancer and I have come to say goodbye.

Her dog will be sad and happy and attentive and comforting. He will pee in the yard a lot.

        Her family will envelop her

Her husband will bear the weight with a smile, a quip and a calm understanding. We will see him for who he truly is.

        She will be beautiful and calm

Construction workers will do their level best to ensure we all go together. We will want to convince them that she has made a wish to tear up the sidewalk with a backhoe.

        I will see Santa in the airport, waiting to fly to Phoenix

All of these things happened. All of these things are true.

        We are all very lucky because she made us better

Whose idea was this?

I keep seeing little (and big) additions to add as I sit down to compose a post.

Post (noun): what you bang your head on

For example, this one was going to be about search engines and what clients seem to think they want. Then I looked at the word post and that definition above and thought "it would be cool to tag a word and have a nice title balloon pop-out with the definition instead of actually typing it out inline". This, of course, is ridiculous. How often would I actually do this? Would it become a "thing"? (Ohh, Definition Balloon Enhancer here would be per--STOP IT).

Would I start adding words just to justify the tool? Would the text become stilted and weird because I want to be clever? Even worse, would people start rubbing their mice all over the screen to see if they were missing something?

Just because I see an opportunity for a momentary enhancement (*snicker*) doesn't mean it's useful for anyone else. I might be just adding it because I can and people would see this app as having Tons of Features (despite the fact that half that weight would be bloat).

(Not sure who I'm speaking to here: most likely, some Future Me. This really isn't that crazy, since this is not a publicized blog. Even though it's an audience (FUTURE!!) of one, I am sure that Future Me will think this Present Me is such a dumbass that it would be like reaing a stranger's mumblings.
